Happy 17 Months Dagny

Dearest Dagny,

Today you turned 17 months old and with that another month of growth. You are growing so much that it seems I am always having to go to the store and buy new clothes for you. Not that I am complaining, because I am not. I am happy you are thriving. In fact, yesterday I was looking at some video from the day we met you and it is amazing how much you have changed. You no longer look like a little baby, but a little lady. I am just simply blown away with how big you are.

Where do I start?

How about your hair? Your bangs are so long now, that you ask for me to do something with them (not that I haven’t been trying). You point to your head and look at me, I swear saying “Mommy, I give up, do something.” I try my best to accommodate you. I can’t wait until I can do pigtails. I am hoping this summer.

Music is still something that you just absolutely love. That has not changed about you. Now thou you sing along. You’re really into nursery rhymes right now and The Wiggles are still your main dudes.

You and Maxie finally had your moment. You went up to her and didn’t take the hint that she was not in the mood to play. She batted at you… she got you… and you cried running to me. Now, you are a lot more cautions around her. Which is good, not that she would hurt you on purpose but she does have her claws. So, we do have to be careful. I think you got that. You and Lily are still the same. She is still jealous but still very protective of you. I find her sometimes laying in front of your door as you’re napping. I think this summer you two are going to reach a new level.

You seem to be very smart. Agi Mama got you some flash cards of first words. Just today I sat down with and you and we looked through them. I decided to concentrate on the word cat. Now, you say the word “cat” when I show the card to you. You comprehend a lot more things then I thought you would at this point. If I ask you to do something, you do. If I ask you a question your able to communicate the answer to me even if it’s not verbal.

You love to act like your reading. I put a couple of books into your crib and I can hear you “reading” over the monitor. I have walked in on you sitting in your crib, book wide open pointing at the words, reading. You even like to read to daddy while he is giving you your bath.

Your talking more and more. You are trilingual. You speak English, Hungarian and Baby. Baby by far is your strongest language which I hope wont be for much longer. Seriously thou, you do understand both English and Hungarian and you do say words in both languages.

You LOVE to go, anywhere… just go. You will bring me your jacket and ask for help in putting it on. You beam at the sight of the car.

It seems every time I look into your mouth you have a new tooth coming in. I keep saying this but it is amazing watching you blossom.

I don’t want you thinking your perfect because your not, no one is. You have mastered tantrums. You look and make sure nothing is around and then you throw yourself on the floor when things don’t go your way. You will cry one minute because your angry, frustrate, or whatever it might be, and then the next minute your all smiles. You also like to throw your sippy cup (or whatever you’re holding) when your not too happy. You discovered hitting, but I do believe at this point you think its a game, because your laughing as you do it.

You are by far a Daddy’s girl. You hear the car pulling into the garage you start yelling “Dada, Dada” and run to the door and wait for Daddy to come in. After that you just want to be in Daddy’s arms. It’s so neat to see that you love us as much as we love you.

Until next month Boo… you keep on growing.

Little D

I love you very much Little D.

Love,

Mommy
