Vegetarian Post

I know I promised more meat in my next post, but I just don’t think I can deliver.  At least I promise it will not be a vegan one.

Lets go way back to last weekend.

Saturday my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew came through town.  They were going to Buffalo for a wedding and they dropped Emerson off at our house and stayed a bit before they headed out.  Dagny also had her first “daycare friend” birthday party to go to.  Emerson was nice to tag along with Craig and Dagny, while I stayed home and caught up with my family. After Dagny got back from the birthday party and woke up from her nap, we all went out to dinner to celebrate Emerson’s birthday that was back in July.  Hey, it’s better later then never!

Sunday, my brother and his lovely lady came back through town to pick up their youngest offspring.  We had a nice breakfast and did some more catching up before they headed back down to Long Island.  I can’t wait for our trip to Binghamton for the Annual Biro Bonfire later this month!

Because the weather was so amazing, we decided to dress up our little one and take some photos with the sunflowers.  This also seems to be an annual tradition.

Here is our little bumble bee.

Cute, huh?  I’d like to think so too.

Later in the week Dagny and I went to Jacob’s house for a play date.  Jacob has the greatest backyard with the biggest sandbox and pool in town.  Even though Jacob is few years older then Dagny, they got along lovely.

They decided to play in the smaller one of his two pools.  And, of course I dropped the ball.  I totally forgot to bring Dagny’s bathing suit.  Jacob was kind enough to let Dagny borrow some of his clothes that he has outgrown.

I promise not to wait a week before I write about this weekends adventure.

Radio Silence, No More

Well, Hello to all that are still reading our blog.  We are back.  Sorry for the hiatus. I won’t go into details since Craig explained in his post about our technically difficulties.

In other news, we have had a steady set of visitors throughout the summer.  Mostly, it was our families that wanted to see the new house and of course Dagny, not so much Craig and I. So instead of a very wordy post I will do a time line of events through photos.  You guys like the photos better anyway.

Craig’s parents came for a visit a couple of weekends ago.  As Dagny is getting older she is becoming more and more aware of her grandparents.  She was excited to have them up here.  She just loves them both so much.

Here she is working on a puzzle with her Grandpa.

We went to one of Dagny’s favorite places, Strong Museum of Play.

She was ready to bring her home with us.  If only we had the room.

Later in the day, after Dagny’s nap, we decided to go for a walk on the beach.  The weather was beautiful and the crowds were at a minimum.  It was a prefect combination.

The rest of the weekend we hung out at the house. Enjoying the backyard and the pool.

We played some soccer.

Taking a break with Grandpa.

Then Dagny went into the pool with Craig and Grandma.

The rest of summer when we didn’t have guest we have had fun hanging out just us three.  We tried to do some of Dagny’s favorite activities.

We went berry picking.

We went to the zoo.  Which she is loving more and more with every visit.

So, I will end this post.  I really should of called it ‘Catching Up’.  I promise that my next post will have a little more meat and not just bones.

But, before I go.  This is what I came home to one afternoon while Craig was babysitting.

Good news is that I love them.

And the admin says…

Well, hello to all who are still reading our blog. And I do hope there are some of you out there. A lot has changed since our last post and I’ll be sure to get into it a little.

First, I’m sure all of you would like to know why our site has been offline for so long. Well, to put it simply, our previous hosting provider “SUCKED”! So we did a little more research this time round and found a new home for the Johnsonhousehold web site. So far I can say that I’m happy with it as well as Barbara.

Second, our new look! With the move of the web site, it also get us the opportunity to find a new site management tool. This new tool has much more to offer than the last one and we’re really excited about. We’re really looking forward to taking advange of the new features and hope that the experience that our viewers have will be a much richer and enjoyable one.

Kidzapalooza 2010

One of the best parts of summer for me is when my niece and nephew are in town for their annual visit. It is that time again and I am loving it.

I think what I love the most of these two is how they have accepted Dagny into their lives. They don’t find it a burden to do things that a 32 month old finds fun. They just get right in the mix.

I am very lucky to have these three wonderful kids in my life.

We went to the beach earlier in the week. Dagny has been wanting to go and play in the sand for quite some time. She had a great time with her cousins building “castles”. Even though she is still not a huge fan of sand getting on her, she has gotten better with it.

My Mom came along and enjoyed her three favorite grandchildren.

On our way home, Dagny and Erika took a ride on a “horse”.

Saturday, we decided to go to Tinker Nature Park in our old neighborhood. It’s a pleasant walk when it’s really hot outside because of all the trees.

Of course, the battery on our camera died as we started our walk. Boo-hoo. We were only able to take a few.

When did she get so big?

Here she is calling Little Bear. Yes, Little Bear is still very much a part of our lives.

As we were heading to our car a woman stopped and told us there was free ice cream and music in the barn. Um, free ice cream and music? Of course we were up for that.

And, today we (minus Lil D and my Mom) went to see Inception. What a fantastic movie. I had an idea of what it was going in, but it far exceed my exception. People actually clapped after the movie, I can’t remember the last time that’s happened. Go see it if you’re into movies like this. Enough said.

Happy Birthday, Emerson!

Dear Emerson,

I am so proud of the person you are becoming. You are a fun loving young man that still surprises me on a regular bases.

One reason I love the summer so much is because I get to spend a portion of it with you.

Here is an oldie of us.

Your Uncle and I love you very much.

Happy 14th Birthday.

Fun Weekend With Great Friends

Saturday our good friends came over with their Lil D. It was so great seeing them and catching up. D has grown so much, he is such a sweet little boy.

Dagny and I had a conversation about a little boy coming to visit with her, because as a parent of a two year-old I just never know how she is going to react. Well, to my pleasant surprise she said “I am going to hug and kiss D…” At this point I almost melted. I thought that was such a sweet thing for her to say. I mean come on… how cute is that?!

When they arrived and we gave them a tour of the new house we made a detour to Dagny’s room. Where D enjoyed exploring. Once again my kid made me proud. Because we all know how kids can get very possessive of their toys in addition with being a toddler and an only child. So, when D showed interest in Dagny’s toys Craig and I held our breath and were ready to parent. All this build-up for nothing, because she totally shared with D. Yay daycare!

We ended up in the backyard where Craig grilled and we caught up. Later in the afternoon Dan decided to take the kids for a ride.

Sunday, we headed to the backyard to play in the pool, but first we played with the sprinklers. Because, you know the pool is not enough to meet our needs of getting wet.

I don’t see us leaving the house much this summer. Maybe by next year the novelty of the pool will wear off. Doubt it thou.

Fourth Of July Weekend

Craig had both Monday and Tuesday off, which translated to lots of fun. Our weekend started on Thursday night when Craig’s brother, Tim, arrived from Texas for a nice long visit.

Friday: Because Tim got in so late, Dagny didn’t have a chance to see her uncle until we went to her daycare’s tie-dye ice cream social. Where we saw lots of colorful shirts and tons of little kids following Tim around like the Pied Piper. Very cute.

Saturday and Sunday: It was all about the pool and BBQ. Sunday, Dagny stayed up way past her bedtime to watch our local fireworks. I was very proud of Lil’ D, she handled herself so well at the park.

She loves corn!

Taking a break from the pool and playing in her house.

Uncle Tim did this a lot.

Then it was Daddy’s turn with Lily along for the ride.

This is pretty much how we felt at the end of the day.

Here is little boo after we got back from the firework show.

Monday: Was our wedding anniversary. How did we celebrate? We took our little girl and Tim to Strong Museum of Play. Then… it was into the pool of course.

Talking with Elmo.

So fitting… such a little performer.

Uncle Tim proving that real man do play with Barbies for the sake of their niece.

The Incredible Tim.

Oh… and on Wednesday after picking Dagny up from daycare we got rear-ended at a red light. Scary stuff when your car is not even moving and even scarier is having your child in the car with you.

Eight

Eight years later you still make me laugh out loud and bring joy to our lives.

Happy Anniversary!

I love you.
