When I asked Craig earlier in the week what he would like to do for Father’s Day, he said “All I want to do is go in the pool with Dagny.” I must admit I thought that was the sweetest thing he could of asked for. I was so happy the weather decided to corporate and Craig was able to get his wish. When the time came, Craig went out first to make sure the water was not too cold for Dagny. When he gave his two thumbs up, I asked Dagny if she would like to go in the pool. OMG! She jumped up with the biggest smile on her face, practically yelling “Yes!” I changed her into her bathing suit, caked on her sunblock, and put on her what looks like a life vest. Then when she was Mommy proof, she was ready for the pool. Earlier in the day Dagny gave Craig a Father’s Day card. Since she is still a little too young to write, Dagny and I picked out a recordable card on which she left a special message. Barbara Dagny loves strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and anything that has berry in it’s name. I thought it would be nice to take her out and have her pick her own strawberries. I do believe we are going back real soon. Barbara Friday afternoon Craig and I drove down to State College, PA to visit with our good friends, the Gibson’s. This was the first time in a year that we left Dagny home with my Mom. Actually, the last time was when we went to Shannon and Jeremy’s wedding. If at all possible, I think we missed Dagny more this time around, but we survived. It is amazing how much we did on Saturday. We started the day by going over to their business, PCQuikFix, and taking a tour. If anyone needs anything done on their computers, etc. then you need to give them a call! Here are the wonderful owners. From there, our awesome hosts took us to Penn’s Cave, America’s only all water cavern. This was really neat. I am really glad we got a chance to check this out. Then later in the day we went to the Alpha Fire Company, where Jeremy is a volunteer fireman. He gave us a tour and explained the difference between and fire engine and a fire truck, which I had wrong all this time. Do you know the difference? It was so great seeing them again. We can’t wait to meet the little man when he arrives in August. Barbara Hey check it, it’s actually not a Dagny post. This one belongs all to my better half. Hey Now! After the parade, while our offspring was napping Craig finally took the plunge. I personally thought he was nuts, but part of my job description of being his life partner is to be supportive. So, I stood there and took photos of the crazy boy going into the cold pool. It seems the water might be a tad bit cold. Buh-Bye. Well, Hello there. You know what he is thinking, right? That he’s crazy! Ready to be a fish. He was in the water the entire afternoon. Now if only the good weather would come back. Barbara Why, you ask? Because they have a Children’s Parade. How cool is that? This year was the 79th year and our first. The kids got to march behind their street banner and represent. They had a fire engine and the French Road School band leading the way. The parade ended with ice cream and a comedy juggling act. Check out the cool kid on the block. The fire engine leading the way. Followed by the French Road School Band. We joined the parade. Behind our street banner, representing. It was a long walk and here is Dagny’s reward. The funny entertainers. Each child that participated received a box of sidewalk chalk. So, of course when we got home we had to go all Picasso on our driveway. Ever wondered what a grown man looks like playing hopscotch? Well, wonder no longer. Here you go. I think someone deserves Father of the Year Award. Dagny giving it a try. It kind of looks like she is doing the Electric Slide. One more bonus shot of my favorite little girl. All done. Barbara Grandma Jen came for a visit last Wednesday for a week. It was the first time she has seen the new house. We were very sad that Grandpa Ken was not able to make it. Dagny actually looked and asked for him. She has really become more aware of the whole Grandmother, Grandfather role. The visit worked out so nice because Craig had Friday and Monday off from work, so he was able to join in the fun. Friday, we went to the zoo for the first time this year. I was never super excited about going, up until now. As I mentioned before, Dagny has never been a fan of her stroller and because she was so little last year it really was hard for her to see things. All this adds up to one of us carrying her… ok, mostly Craig. This time the experience was so different. I guess she has grown enough where she was able to see most of the animals comfortably and walking greater distances seem more tolerable. Craig and Dagny checking out the Rhinos. Saturday, we went to Dagny’s current favorite place Strong Museum of Play. Everyday, she asks to go back. I see another visit in the near future. Dagny having a conversation with Elmo while Grandma looking on. Little Miss D and I fetching a pail of water. Super D with her sidekick Mama Bear. Every time we leave Dagny asks to go for a ride, can you guess what the answer is every time? The rest of the weekend was opening the pool and getting the water just right. We are still waiting for the water to warm up, being and in-ground pool it takes longer, but it also stays warmer longer. Until next time. Barbara Barbara Saturday Dagny and I went to Shannon’s Baby Shower. It was so nice seeing Shannon and Jeremy again. Last year we were down in PA for their wedding and this August they are going to be celebrating the arrival of their son, Logan. We are so excited for Dagny to have another little friend. Knowing Shannon and Jeremy, Logan is going to be an amazing little boy. Shannon opening up gifts for the Little Man. Dagny trying to sneak in or out of the photo… hmmm… not sure. I was so proud of Little Miss D. She didn’t have a nap and I was so scared she would not be… well, lets put it this way, on her best behavior. But, yet again she amazed me. Not only was she a very good little girl, but got right into the mix with the children. I just love this photo of some of the girls playing together. While the ladies were gathering, the men went golfing. It was so nice to see our friends that we wished lived closer. Hopefully, we will see them again in a few weeks if all things work out.
