Our Smart Little Cookie

Today Craig and I took Dagny to her doctor for a check-up and a couple of shots. I am not sure we should be so excited about going to our child’s doctor. But, it’s been four months since Dr. P has seen Dagny and we were so excited to see what she thought of her development.

In the past, Dagny would cry while getting her measurements. This time not one sound. We were so proud of our little pup.

Little D was talking with Dr. P and was singing the alphabet song to her. But what was really adorable, as she was singing she put her arm on her eyes because she got shy. That is the first time Craig and I have seen her do that. It was so cute.

Our little boo has grown over two inches in four months. We have been noticing it on her clothes, but to actually see the numbers…wow.

Here are Dagny’s stats:

* Weight – 29 lbs 5 oz – 85%
* Height – 34 in – 75%
* Head Circumference – 18 in 3/4 – 60%

Now, the really great news. Dr. P said that Dagny not only caught up (being in an orphanage the first year of her life), but has surpassed kids her own age. We were told that Dagny has an above average IQ. We have one smart cookie.

we love you

Sunday’s Activities

This morning we woke up and Craig made us some yummy pancakes. With our tummies all full we headed to Powers Farm Market to try and beat the crowd, which we succeed in. This place is awesome. Everywhere you turn there are things to do and Dagny was up for it all.

Here we are waiting for the Hayride.

Grandma, Mommy, and Daughter

Here is Little D on it.

Hi

Here are some things we saw.

After the Hayride Dagny we went into the tepee. She really has no fear. It’s dark in there.

where is Dagny?

We said hi to the locals.

“hi, goat.”

And Bear wanted to go on a ride.

Then we went home to have some lunch, put Dagny down for a nap and I made chili. When Dagny got up from her nap we decided to go for a walk, which then turned into going to the park.

Here is D on her favorite park accessory.

YAY

Her second favorite.

WEEE…

I think she looks like she is on the space station here.

She was ready to go home and we were too.

Fall Activities Have Started

Like I mentioned in a past post Autumn is my most favorite season. I love everything about it, from the chill in the air, to the colors, smells, and all the great fun to be had. This year I am so excited to be sharing this with Dagny. So, to kick off the season we went Apple picking today and we all had a blast. I’m happy to report that Dagny is a natural, which is important because Apples right now are her most favorite fruit.

Here we are ready to roll.

Yay!

Someone was excited to see all the apples.

Here I am showing Dagny how it’s done.

Afterward, Dagny wanted to go down the slide… a lot.

When we got home Dagny and I baked Praline-Apple bread, instead of the traditional Apple Pie. Which by the way, I need to make real soon if I want my marriage to stay happy.

Happy 22 Months, Dagny!

Dearest Dagny,

You are such a amazing little girl and I am still amazed at how much you’re changing everyday.

my pretty girl

You seem so much more mature in many ways. Don’t get me wrong, you have your “moments”, and they are impressive. What I have noticed about your tantrums they come in waves. You have a couple of bad days and then you’re A-OK for days at a time. I am still not sure what sets off your “moments” (Daddy doesn’t like me calling them meltdowns), I guess it’s the typical frustration of things.

You’re doing great in school. You love going, in fact you would go everyday if you had your way. I swear I am not exaggerating. Most days (you only go twice) I have “teachers” stop me and tell me that they just love you and that you’re great. I have also been told that the older kids adore you as well. You just have this amazing ability to have people dote on you.

You are learning so much in daycare. You’ve started singing the ABC song, for real! You go up to “A B C” and then it’s in Dagny language. If I asked you to say your ABC you go up to “A B C D E”, not bad for someone that isn’t even 2 yet. You also are starting to recognize your letters, which you and Daddy practice at bath time in the tub with your foam letters. You will say the entire alphabet after repeating me.

Here is audio that we did back when Erika and Emerson were here.

You are now starting to call me “Mommy”, 50% of time. I am not sure if I am ready for this. It’s just, after “Mommy” comes “Mom” and I am ready for that. This past weekend you have started calling your daddy “Daddy”, he is taking it a lot better then I am .

You are starting to take one nap now. You seem ready for this and transitioning well.

You have started to be more of a picker eater. In the beginning you would eat pretty much anything I put on your plate. Not so much anymore. But, you are still willing to try new things. Right now your favorite fruits are “apples and watermelons”. And surprisingly you love broccoli and most vegetables.

We can’t wait to go back to Dr. P next week and find out what your new stats are and what she thinks of your progress.

This week we are meeting with a lawyer to get you “re-adopted” in NYS. You will be issued a NYS Birth Certificate and then we are done with all your paperwork in the US. You already have your US Passport and your Social Security card. All that’s left will be three more Post Placement reports, one of which will be done at the end of October.

Agi Mama came back from Hungary last weekend and she bought you a whole bunch of goodies. The only thing you were interested in was the books she got you. You were SO excited about them, if I would of known what your reaction was going to be I would of had the camera ready. You could care less about the two dolls. You are actually not that into dolls. Right now you’re into your bears and Sesame Street charterers, which you treat like your babies. You feed them, talk with them, and have them talk to each other. I love how you hold their hands and walk with them like we walk you. Your dad and I think it might be because they are so super soft.

Ever since we got the new car all you want to do is go for a ride. Everyday you say “car” and go to the garage door with your bears in hand. I try and plan some errands around the time your home so I can take you for a ride. This is good news, because we have a long drive to Boston early next month. We are going to meet up with Uncle Emeric, Aunt Edit, and your cousins for my birthday. I am very excited.

We are about to enter my favorite time of the year, Autumn! More specifically the month of October and not because it’s my birthday month, I promise. I am so excited to be spending the first fall with you. We have so much planned already, from going to Binghampton, Boston, Zooboo, Grandma Jen’s visit, apple picking, hayrides, pumpkins, trick or treating (already have your costume), and so much more.

I love you so much!

Matryoshka Photo Shoot

When I saw that the Gap has a St. Petersburg Collection for the fall I got really excited. I was hoping they would have a shirt with the Matryoshka doll on it. Needless to say when I saw they did, I ran out an got Dagny one, well actually two. I got her one that she can wear now and one in a couple of years (when she can understand the meaning of it).

So my girl and I had a photo shoot modeling her new shirt.
